Privacy Policy

Self by Design LLC (hereafter, “we”, “us” or “Self by Design”) is the owner of Self by Design mobile applications (currently located at App Store and Google Play Store) and website(s) (currently located at www.selfbydesign.com) (collectively, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy describes Self by Design’s policies and procedures relating to the collection, use and disclosure of information you may provide to us and that we may collect about you when you use the Services.  

This Privacy Policy applies only to information that you provide to us through the Services and that we may collect about you when you use the Services. This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes to this Privacy Policy by posting the new Privacy Policy on our mobile application. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes.  By continuing to access or use the Services after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

Account and Profile Information: When you create a Self by Design account you must provide access credentials either in the form of an email address and password or by authentication using another service, such as Facebook. You may optionally provide us with additional profile information, including a short bio, favorite quote, and a profile picture. If you create your Self by Design account by connecting through a third-party account or service, we may use information from that connected third-party account or service to complete your Self by Design profile. You may update or modify your Self by Design account information, profile and contact information at any time.

Contact Information: In addition to using your contact information to create your account, we may use information you provide to send you information about our Services, respond to your requests and facilitate your use of the Services. By using the Services, you consent to these electronic communications. By using the Services you consent to our collection and use of such data related to your use of Services.

Links: We may use the information you provide and your access to the Services (as described below) to keep track of how you interact with links across our Services, including our email notifications, third-party services, and client applications, by redirecting clicks or through other means. We do this to help improve our Services, for example, to provide relevant advertising, and to be able to share aggregate click statistics such as how many times a particular link was clicked. By using the Services you consent to our collection and use of such data related to your use of Services.

Cookies: We may use "cookie" technology to collect additional usage data and to improve our Services. A cookie is a small data file that is transferred to your computer's hard disk. Self by Design may use both session cookies and persistent cookies to better understand how you interact with our Services, to monitor aggregate usage by our users and web traffic routing on our Services, and to customize and improve our Services. Most Internet browsers automatically accept cookies. If you do not want cookies from Self by Design, you can instruct your browser, by changing its settings, to stop accepting cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie. However, some Services may not function properly if you disable cookies. By using the Services you consent to our collection and use of such data related to your use of Services

Data: Our servers automatically record information ("Log Data") created by your use of the Services. Log Data may include information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, location, your mobile carrier, device and application IDs, search terms, and cookie information. We receive Log Data when you interact with our Services, for example, when you visit our websites, sign into our Services, view content hosted by Self by Design, or interact with our email notifications. Self by Design uses Log Data to provide our Services and to measure, customize, and improve them. By using the Services you consent to our collection and use of such data related to your use of Services.

Third-Party Service Providers: Self by Design uses a variety of third-party services to help provide our Services and to help us understand the use of our Services, including Square Space Analytics and Mixpanel. These third-party service providers may collect information sent by your browser as part of a web page request, such as cookies or your IP address. By using the Services you consent to such access and use by our third-party service providers.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We engage third-party service providers to perform functions and provide services to us in the United States and abroad. We may share your private personal information with such third-party service providers in accordance with this Privacy Policy, and on the condition that such third-parties use such data only on our behalf and pursuant to our instructions.

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this Privacy Policy, we may preserve or disclose your information if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation or legal request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security or technical issues; or to protect Self by Design’s rights or property. However, nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to limit any legal defenses or objections that you may have to a third-party requests to disclose your information.

In the event that Self by Design is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. This Privacy Policy will apply to your information following such transaction.

Modifying Your Personal Information

If you are a registered user of our Services, we provide you with tools and account settings to access or modify the information you provided to us and associated with your account.

Our Policy Towards Children

Our Services are not directed to persons under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at hello@selfbydesign.com. If we become aware that a child under 13 years of age has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to remove such information and deactivate the child's account.

GDPR / Control of Your Information

Information that you provide to us and that we collect from you may be transferred outside of your state or country of residence (including transfer outside of the European Economic Area) for the purposes and uses described in this Privacy Policy.  We may retain your information indefinitely. You may change your account, profile or other information you have provided to us at any time through our mobile application. You can permanently delete your account with Self by Design at any time by emailing us at hello@selfbydesign.com. If you refuse to provide the information required to establish an account with Self by Design, you may not be able access the Services.
